Well done to Trevor Hodkinson on taking first place in Djouce Woods last Sunday. It was a tough course physically, with several options on route choice. I had the misfortune to catch Trevor as we’d started 2 or 3 minutes apart. The man was on fire! Ever leg we went head to head, he picked the better route… his victory was well deserved. Beating Paul Keville (who’s also currently on fire if his IMRA placings are anything to go by) is no mean feat. Well done Trevor!
The club would like to wish Mick Kellett (pictured, in his GEN gear running up Lugnaquilla last year) a speedy and full recovery. He felt unwell trekking across Mayo solo a few weeks back, so during a spell in hospital was fitted with stents for a heart condition. We’ll be expecting him to act his age (ie go a bit slower!), but are glad that all is OK with him.
The courses were superb, the weather magnificent – this is what orienteering should be about!
Well kind of. Can you spot our own Mick Kellett in his GEN top flying off the top of Carrauntoohill (bottom right, just in case you can’t)? Mick came in 2nd M70 in the IMRA race in June. Fair play.
